Of course one of the prime reasons for visiting any pub is to sample a selection of fine ales and the Golden Lion can satisfy the discerning taste of any beer drinker. The Golden Lion prides itself on the range of cask conditioned ales that it has on offer and the board in the public bar gives a clue to the variety and quality of the cask conditioned beers that are served up. The regular ales are, Greene King I.P.A, Wye Valley Hereford Pale Ale and  Hobson's Town Crier and there are a number of constantly changing guest beers. which range from nationally recognised real ales to specialist local brews.

Also available on draught are Carling and Stella Artois lager, Guinness and Strongbow cider.

The Golden Lion Inn also offers a wide selection of various wines from around the world. Please see our current wine list, shown below, for details.

An excellent selection of food is also served ranging from light snacks and sandwiches to superb home cooked meals. Food is available from 12 noon to 2.00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and until 2.30 p.m. on a Sunday. Group bookings and advanced bookings are very welcome and can be catered for in the well appointed lounge or snug bars. A selection of menus can be seen below and as can be seen the Golden Lion caters for all tastes including vegetarians.

The pub is of course no smoking throughout, although a covered, heated smoking area is available at the rear.

A very fine champagne from a small, quality conscious family firm who have produced a complex sparkling wine with a toasty nose, fine persistent mousse and a great length.

With zesty, mouth watering fruit. A delicate strawberry colour. Fresh and crisp with bags of bright berry fruits.

An un-oaked Chablis, delicately restrained wine with all the minerally flavours you'd expect.

A crisp refreshing, dry wine. Made in modern style with flavours of honey and spice

A modern style Chardonnay from the trendy Bio Bio Valley. Light, delicate, with round citrus and honey flavours.

A Clear, clean and refreshing wine. Zesty with tangy flavours of Pasion fruit, gooseberries, a fine example of Sauvignon Blanc

A fruity style medium wine, with a hint of residual sweetness, suited to palates with a liking for softer fruiter wines

Complex, well structured wine with ripe wild strawberry fruit overlaid with spicy, never domineering, oak flavours. Rich, meaty, yet elegant - a very true representation of what made Rioja great.

Medium bodied, silky smooth, aromas of floral and berry fruit. Flavours of concentrated fruit, soft velvety tannins.

Deep rich colour, aromas of ripe blackberries, a medium palate with flavours of vanilla and sweet fruit
